The S-2 Family House is a conceptual proposal for a home in Namyslow, Poland. A departure from typical modernist residential architecture, it is a dark, visually heavy design that contrasts sharply with its natural environment. The design is decidedly masculine and monumental, the dark charcoal color conjuring images of urban industrialism. The overall shape of the S-2 Family house is quite traditional, but its execution is distinctly modern. The walls and roof are blank, shingled planes, punctuated by windows on only one side. The S-2 Family House is an interesting exploration of the juxtaposition of several different styles in a single project. For more information visit Tamizo Architects.

“The Rat Race” is a piece jesting at the social ideal of the rat race, the idea that we are all rats in a competitive race to the top. Technology plays a key role in enhancing each rat but staying on top of technological progress (new software, programming languages, memes, etc) is a job onto itself. What technologies enhance our daily lives or make our work more streamlined? “The Rat Race” is a fusion of rat and technology.
